I originally started the Software Testing Club as an experiment, keen to make it grow and become a useful place to visit, though was never sure it would take off.
Some good things are happening and am humbled at the fact we have reached and passed 200 members. There are people from all over the world which is a great thing.
In bullet point style here are some things that are happening:
Personally, I'm quite please with the way the Club is heading. The service from Ning is fab. Ning react quickly to support requests - the quickest resolution being within 5 minutes of sending an email. So big thumbs up from DrivenQA to Ning.
It's also quite 'cool' that some of the Ning testers are hanging out in the Club :) They are also hiring if it is of interest to anyone.
So what do you think of it all?
I previously had a list of software testing related videos which I had been building up overtime. However, this has now changed as I have recently been posting videos to the Software Testing Club, there has also been a bit of teamwork going on as I'm not the only one who has added videos.
If you're looking for software testing videos or would like to add some to our growing collection the Software Testing Video Club (!!!) is the place to go.
I've been doing my fair bit of contributing and participating in the local technology community. The rise of the internet saw a big rush of people set up global online communities. The problem with this (in my humble opinion) is that local communities have been neglected. What better to invest your time in than the place where you live?
I've taken this concept and applied it to the Software Testing Club. My idea is to encourage people to set up their own local community. A day or two ago I set one up for Brighton & London area and since then 3 more have been started (UK - Midlands, Pakistan - Karachi and Australia & Newzealand).
Why not start one in your own area?
I've been keeping a close eye on the online Software Testing Club.
I've been happy with the small continual growth and realise that it won't be too long till we reach the '100' number. If and when we do I would like to celebrate. :) Not quite sure how yet, am open to ideas. One idea would be a prize (maybe vouchers?) for best or most contributions.
Maybe the current members should decide.
